Appendix V - SHARING THE BCFPI SOFTWARE DIRECTORY
Open Windows Explorer
In order for users to be able to install the BCFPI Client software on their workstations, you need to give them access to the BCFPI program files on the server. On the computer that is the BCFPI Server, right-click on 'My Computer' and choose 'Explore'.
Locate the BCFPI Server Install Folder
Locate the folder you created on the Server where the BCFP is installed. You will note that in this example, the BCFPI folder does not have an image of a hand holding the folder (which indicates that it is not shared).
Share the BCPFI Server root install folder
Right-click on the folder you want to share and choose 'Sharing...' from the pop-up menu.
The 'Sharing' tab of the properties for the folder indicate it is not currently shared. Click on [Shared As].
Once you choose [Shared As], the dialog will allow you to configure the share. Set the 'Share Name' to something meaningful such as 'BCFPI'. (This is the name other users on your network will see for the folder that you are sharing). Make sure that you select 'Maximum Allowed' for the 'User Limit' (this is the number of persons who can access the folder at the same time). Click [OK].
You will then note that the BCFPI folder will have the hand image holding the folder, indicating it is now shared.
If we look at another 'Network Neighborhood' on another computer on our network, we can see the result of our share. Below, we can see that the 'BCFPI' share is now visible under the computer 'Laptopiv' (the server computer).
